Men’s lacrosse starts off strong with two wins

Men’s Lacrosse jump-started their spring season with two wins this week. On Tuesday, Feb. 21, the Ospreys visited DeSales University’s field, beating them 14-9. Later that same week, Stockton also triumphed over Elizabethtown College, resulting in a final score of 20-15.

During Tuesday’s match, Luc Swedlund, playing the attack position, scored seven goals. Swedlund has continued to extend his school record of 279 career goals, finishing with 339 last season. His teammates Reegan Capozzoli and Dante Poli both contributed two goals to the team’s total. This match was a comeback from last season since the Ospreys lost against Desales in overtime by one point (14-15).

In the game on Saturday against Elizabethtown College, the Ospreys scored a total of 20 goals. Both Poli and Colin Hopkins scored five goals, while Swedlund scored three. Goalkeeper Eric Lindskog made some great saves, stopping the Blue Jays from obtaining a lead.

The first week of Men’s Lacrosse foreshadows a promising season. The Ospreys will be away this week but will be hosting their first home game of the season against Widener University on Wednesday, Mar. 8.
