Stockton’s annual University Weekend kicks off with Talon Trot

Written for The Argo by Rachel Rolle

On October 8th, the front of the Sports Center was filled with participants of all ages for the Talon Trot 5K and Fun Run. The adult group ran at 10:00 a.m., and the 12 and under age group soon followed at 10:45 a.m. The oldest of the first group was a 67-year-old woman and a 62-year-old man. This family event was hosted by Student Development and Stockton University’s Student Alumni Association. Snacks were provided and music was played at the event to prepare the participants before they soared off.

Stockton’s Cross Country Team was there to help guide runners throughout the course. Max Klenk, a Senior on the Track and Field Team, participated in the 5k finishing first place overall. All runners who participated were treated with a complimentary drink after finishing the race.

Some families came out to support their runners from the sidelines, while some joined in the run. A family from Manahawkin, NJ decided to sign up after they heard a friend was joining. One runner mentioned that the weather was “in perfect condition.”
