The Ospreys fought hard this week, beating Ramapo College and Rutgers-Camden, yet they lost a crucial game, making their conference record 5-8. Coming into this game, William Patterson also knew what was at stake; they had a 6-6 record in the conference, and losing to Stockton would take them out of the NJAC tournament. The Pioneers battled for that spot, beating the Ospreys 41-60. Stockton is now 8th in the conference, just outside the cut-off for the NJAC tournament.

William Patterson’s defense pressured Stockton’s offense, allowing them to score 26 points off of turnovers. This game was a battle of who wanted it more. The scores were tied three times, and William Patterson did not have a huge lead until the 4th quarter. After the 3rd quarter, the Ospreys were only down by 9 points, but William Patterson did not let up, scoring 21 points compared to their 11 points.
The team’s schedule does not let up from here. In the next couple of weeks, they will be competing against the #1 and #3 seed NJAC teams. Seeing the team finish out the season strong is all fans can hope for. This season was better than the last, starting with 8-2, but now they need to find their consistency. Hopefully, next season will see improvement and the freshman players will mature. The Women’s Basketball team is due for a comeback season and it is possible that this group can do it.
