On April 18, Stockpot held their annual launch party for the release of their 52nd annual edition of the Stockpot Literary Magazine. This year’s theme was a Rococo inspired Masquerade with provided masks, pastel string lights, gold, and pure elegance.
The night started off with tabling by Pride Alliance, music by WLFR, and custom poems by Kayla Lily Writes. It followed with dinner and an open mic where students and past editors of Stockpot shared their work. Students read their pieces from the published book and Professor Tom Kinsella shared a piece titled Cedar Bog, “Magic echoes here. This is a place of folklore. Sammy Giberson played the air tune here, shaming the skill of the devil. A child of Mother Leeds, born not five miles away, strides the bog on moonlit nights. Here students speak of philosophy and love, the quiet inspiring them.”
Zuleika Rodriguez, Co-Editor-in-Chief for Stockpot, stated, “Stockpot has been a home away from home for me, especially when I started out as a freshman! From the beginning, the editors (Liz Myers, Sarah Coe, and Victoria Orlowski) made me feel welcome and gave me a space to learn and express myself. As I get ready to graduate, I’m excited to see what comes next. I love that we’re able to keep such a longstanding tradition going. The group gets very close over the course of the year, which is what I will miss the most!”
As the night came to a close, the group played a round of Kahoot based on French words which are seen throughout the 52nd edition’s chapters.
