Stockton University (4-3) played their first game in two weeks, defeating Rutgers-Newark (2-3) 67-45 in the quarterfinals of the NJAC Tournament.
Luciano Lubrano continued his efficient scoring season dropping a team high 16 points on 5-9 shooting. Sophomore DJ Campbell finished with 15 points, 4 assists, and 4 rebounds.
It was a competitive first half until the final two minutes, when the Osprey’s broke off a 7-0 run to take a 31-23 lead into halftime. Tariq Baker and DJ Campbell led the Osprey’s in scoring with 8 points a piece. Campbell also contributed 3 assists in the half.
Stockton was dominant in the second half on both the offensive and defensive end. The Osprey’s scored 36 points on 51.9% shooting and held the Scarlet Raiders to 22 total points. Lubrano scored 11 second-half points while shooting a perfect 3-3 from behind the arc.
The Osprey’s held a double digit lead for all but 21 seconds in the final 15 minutes of the game.
Quincy Rutherford led the Scarlet Raiders in scoring totaling 15 points while teammate Dante Ralph posted a double-double with 10 points and a game high 10 rebounds.
Stockton will advance to the NJAC semifinals. They will play on March 12 against the winner of Sunday’s game between No. 1 seed The College of New Jersey and No. 7 seed Kean University.
