Women’s lacrosse leads NJAC conference

Stockton’s women’s lacrosse team is off to a great start this season. They added their eighth consecutive win against Arcadia University on Wednesday, Mar. 22., and traveled up to Glenside, PA, and beat the Knights 13 to 2. The team’s record is now 8-1 and they currently lead the NJAC conference.

Sophomore midfield Isabella Marinello(#13) led the team in goals with three, totaling 24 goals for the season. Marinello has been a great asset to the team this year and has been getting a significant amount of playing time compared to her freshman year. Mary McLaughlin (#1), Margot Costello (#2), and Lilly Alessandro(#6) also added to the team’s score, producing two goals each.

The team’s defense has been another contributing factor to the win. They only allowed Arcadia 10 shots compared to their 36 shot attempts. In addition, when the Knights passed the defensive line, senior goalkeeper Jordan Hawkes(#29) made three saves in the last two quarters. This added to her career total of 162 saves.

Stockton’s next two games will be at home at the Stockton Turf Field. The Ospreys played this Friday, Mar. 24, against Cabrini University and will play again on Wednesday, Mar. 29 against Moravian University at 5:00 p.m. For more information, use the following link: https://stocktonathletics.com/sports/womens-lacrosse/schedule.
