Why you need to join a career community– career corner

Imagine securing your dream job without having to search for it. A friend just texted you that a job was available and you applied for it. That is one of the benefits of being a part of a career community. A career community is a group of people who share a common interest to help one another grow professionally. It is important to note that it is not compulsory for you to join a career community related to your field of study—you can branch out into other fields that you are interested in, too!

According to Stockton’s Office of Career Education and Development, “Through these communities, students will cultivate professional skills with guidance from career advisors, industry experts, alumni, faculty and employers in their chosen field of interest.” Communities like this are impactful in the sense that they give you access to information and opportunities with the support of others.

The Office of Career Education and Development has various career communities available to students and alumni. Currently, there are seven career communities and you can join more than one. Your major doesn’t automatically define your career path, so it is important for you to explore other fields through these communities.

You can join a career community through the Office of Career Education and Development. To do so, visit Stockton’s website and search for Office of Career Education and Development.
