Women’s Basketball defends winning streak (3-0)

This past Thursday, November 17th, the Stockton Women’s Basketball team beat Eastern at home, continuing their fantastic start to the season and maintaining their winning streak.

Stockton put up a total of 60 points, outscoring Eastern’s 37 points. Top score leaders were Adriyana Jennings (#01), Madison LaRosa (#22), Imene Fathi (#03), and Emma Morrone (#02). Jennings and LaRosa both scored 15 points, Fathi scored 10, and Morrone scored 8 points.

The Ospreys played with intensity for the entirety of the game. There were a number of steals and great plays throughout each quarter. The team hit a couple of field goals, spacing out the opponent’s defense. At the same time, Jennings’ strong dribble penetrated the paint. Eastern’s defense could not effectively stop her, sending her to the foul line. Jennings took advantage of these points, making seven out of the nine free throws.

Although Women’s Basketball seems to have a strong season ahead of them, this was not the case for the past couple of years. In the 2020-21 season, they started off 0-4, and at the beginning of last season, they lost to Eastern. If they keep up their current streak, they may be contenders for the NJAC championship this year.
