COMM holds first in-person Meet & Greet since in a year

Written for The Argo by Rebecca Miller

On Thursday, September 23rd, Communication Studies Majors gathered in the C/D Wing Atrium for the second annual COMM Meet and Greet. At this event, Comm majors were given the opportunity to meet other professors within their major, meet fellow students, and sign up for clubs and internships. At this event, there were several booths for clubs and organizations, such as WLFR (91.7 Lake Fred Radio), Stockton’s PRSSA (Public Relations Students Society of America), along with a new club, The Society of Professional Journalists, now advised by Professor Toby Rosenthal.

“It’s exciting to be back and all together!” said Rosenthal. In addition to clubs on the campus, there were also tables for The Press of Atlantic City and Stories of AC. Since the event’s theme was “Comm Together”, a reference to The Beatles song “Come Together,” attendees played several Kahoot games featuring trivia about The Beatles.

The trivia games were run by Professor Erin O’Hanlon. Mariella Negro, a Stockton 2020 alum, served as the event’s emcees.

“I’m grateful for what went on here today. The students got to know their professors and the resources they have available here,” said Joe’l Ludovich, Associate Professor of Communications.

Students at the event were able to learn about resources they can easily access. For many, without this event, they otherwise would never have known about these opportunities. One of these resources is the media production lab in the lower library, where Comm majors have access to microphones, cameras, recording devices, and other resources. Communication majors also have free access to Adobe programs such as Adobe creative suite.

Overall, the Meet and Greet was a fun experience that allowed students to interact with their soon-to-be professors, along with learning about what it means to be a Comm major here at Stockton.
