Stockton introduces Ospreys Navigate app for students

With technology advancing, more and more apps are coming out to help college students navigate college life. One of these apps is called Navigate 360 Student. This app was introduced through discussions held by professors with their students and then formally introduced by email on January 30, 2025. The email was sent on behalf of the Ospreys Navigate Leadership Team, asking students to beta test the new student success platform. The goal is to optimize and improve the user experience of the platform before the predicted Fall 2025 launch.

Once logging onto the platform, students are instructed to complete a short survey getting to know the purpose for using the platform. After survey completion, there are various parts of the app that can be explored. On the app’s home screen, there is some vital information that can be found, including “Appointments,” where students are able to click the department and date they are looking to make an appointment with to find available times. The “Class Schedule” feature allows the ability to connect a student’s class schedule to the calendar app on their phone, and “Resources” can also be accessed here. “Study Buddy Groups” are also available and serve as a way for students to create study groups with other students in their class.

After looking through and engaging in social media posts on popular platforms such as Group Me and Yik Yak, the app is not relatively known across campus. The only sources that caused people to hear about the app was through the one email sent out and through discussions with professors.

This information connects to some confusion that an anonymous Stockton senior had: “ I didn’t really know about the app. There are so many emails that are sent out by Stockton it can get confusing between all of them. If the information was shared on various social media platforms, then I would have been able to use the app from the start of the semester.” This statement can be taken into consideration to open up doors for an increase in communication opportunities that allow students to download the app and take advantage of its benefits.

Dr. Ana Edmondson, the Assistant Vice President for Student Transitions, was emailed about her opinion on the benefits that this app can have for current and future students. She stated that “Ospreys Navigate is going to be a game-changer for our students. This new platform puts the power of their academic success right in their hands. They’ll have everything they need to stay organized, connect with their professors, and even find the support services they need to reach their goals. Plus, they’ll get access to photos and notes of their leaders in their field, like professors, leaders from EOF, Success Scholars, Military, and Veterans Success, and soon, athletic leaders and other key mentors.”

“This will be a huge boost in supporting students by seeing their success network in one place. And if you ever need extra help, just use the ‘raise your hand’ feature to request support for things like academic advising, changing your major, or even finding housing. Faculty and administrators can also refer students to tutoring and other academic services using the platform. I urge you to download the app today and schedule an appointment with a career counselor to talk about your future goals and career. It’s a great way to test out the system for yourself. And don’t forget to tell your friends about all the benefits of Ospreys Navigate and to download the app!”

On the same email, the following quotes were also provided that gave further insight into the opinions of current and former students:

“I feel that Ospreys Navigate has been a great place for students to have a ‘One Stop’ site where not only can they view their grades, class schedules, etc. similar to Blackboard but also be able to communicate with classmates and schedule appointments with offices like Career Education and Development and have it all be on one place. I just wish it was more exposed to students so that they can take advantage of its usage,” said Kisleidy Urena, a Stockton alumna.

“The Ospreys Navigate App makes scheduling appointments much easier and faster for students. Instead of searching through Stockton’s website for a link, everything is right there, and you only have to sign onto the app once. The appointment icon is easy to find, and the app keeps track of all of the student’s upcoming appointments. It is more convenient for students due to it not needing internet connection as opposed to going through the website. All in all, the Ospreys Navigate app is more efficient, especially on the go,” said Starr Sowell, a first-year student.

The quotes above show the positive outcomes that this app could have for students at Stockton University. For more information on the app. visit Stockton’s website.
