The Love On-Air event, hosted by Stockton’s WLFR 91.7 radio station, took place at The Lodge on Thursday, February 27, 2025. The event featured music from local bands and raffle giveaways to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
The event ran from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and featured sets from Linus’ Blanket and Te Vista, both bands containing Stockton students. In between sets, WLFR also gave away Valentine’s Day themed baskets. Proceeds from raffle ticket purchases supported WLFR. The station also had free CDs for attendees to pick from and take home.

Planning for Love On-Air began in November 2024, and meetings continued every Wednesday until the event, spending months putting it together. The student advisory board also had to postpone the event from its original date, February 12, due to inclement weather. Their goal for the event was to create a space where all students could go out and have an enjoyable time around Valentine’s Day.
“Yesterday we met for almost 4 or 5 hours, combining everything down, and then today [February 27th] we got here, probably around 4 [p.m.] or 5 [p.m.], and have been setting up,” stated Morgan Shank, a member of the WLFR student advisory board. “It seems very corny, but to see it all come together is very rewarding.”
According to Mariella Negro, the station’s community manager, WLFR has struggled to connect with community engagement in recent years. She says this was one of their biggest challenges when planning the event. This year’s student advisory board was the first in decades, Negro stated, but her new position as community manager, along with the new advisory board, has been able to change that with events such as Love On-Air.
WLFR will be hosting a similar event this March, Luck On-Air, featuring more music from local bands. Check out WLFR on Instagram at @wlfr_stockton and on OspreyHub for more upcoming events.
