Stockton’s men’s lacrosse team is recovering from their loss against Salisbury University that occurred on Saturday, April 1. On Saturday, April 8, the team traveled over to Fredericksburg, VA, beating the University of Mary Washington by five goals, 19 to 14. Earlier this week, the Ospreys carried their momentum over into the match against their NJAC rival, Kean University. The final score was 14 to 12. The team is now 10 to 3 overall and 2 to 1 in the NJAC conference.
The team’s defense was a key contribution to this match. Colin Bernstein (#12), Stockton’s junior goalie, played a key role in the match, making 18 saves compared to the opponent’s 12 saves. Kean produced more shots, 43, in comparison to Stockton’s 41—solidifying the importance of Berstein’s efforts in this game.
Offensively, Dante Poli (#7), a senior playing the attack position, was the top scorer of the match with four goals. His teammate Reegan Capozzoli (#6) scored two goals versus Kean, as well as five in the match against Mary Washington.
Stockton’s next home match will be on Saturday, April 22, against Arcadia University. This is the first time the two teams are seeing each other this season, but in recent years, Stockton blew the Knights away beating them 21 to 10.
