On Tuesday, January 31st, 2023 at 4:30pm, the Stockton Student Senate held a meeting to appoint new Senators. There, Student Senate President Brianna Bracey announced the four new members of the Stockton Student Senate: Juan Chaparro, Gianna Terpolilli, Britney Marrugo, and Katelynn Bearden. All members were successfully voted in and are now officially Stockton Senators.
President Bracey recognized the achievement of its members for their service on Martin Luther King Day and the Get Involved Fair. This played a large role in creating a strong feeling of infusion and recognition for the four new members. Four student organizations—the Geology Club, the Unified Black Student Society, the Public Relations Student Society of America, (PRSSA), and the Criminal Justice Society in collaboration with the Victimization Organization—all received their requested expenses.
Geology Club was approved for their $8,000 request for their trip to Wyoming., while the Unified Black Student Society was approved for their $11,400 request for their Black Gala. The PRSSA was approved for their $3,900 request for their trip to Boston University, and The Criminal Justice Society with the Victimization Organization was approved for their $8,176 request.
Bracey also offered her insight on this Student Senate meeting. “Everyone has a nice and optimistic viewpoint going into the Spring Semester. I’m looking forward to being productive and doing the most that I can while I’m still here,” said Bracey.
Multiple Student Senators also expressed that students are encouraged to join the Stockton University Presidential Search Committee, which is in charge of finding the individual who will serve as our next president following President Kesselman’s retirement effective June 30, 2023.
Student Senator Arti Kapoor offered her experienced view on today’s meeting: “I think today will be very successful because we have a lot of people here, for both Senators and the audience which will help raise production and public opinion,” said Kapoor.
