Stockton University student Adriana Alfaro is a senior Communication major focusing on journalism and media studies who has landed herself a marketing position with Soho Experimental. Alfaro works for their South Jersey division, which designs, plans, and throws events for partnered companies such as MillerCoors, Google, Lancôme, and Citi Global.
Alfaro attended and worked the event held at Ceasar’s Sportsbook in Atlantic City, N.J., over the weekend of October 2, to promote the Caesar’s Sportsbook app. “We also have partnered with Dove, Stoli, and Twitter in the past,” said Alfaro. “We also partner with several liquor brands. I’m part of their South Jersey team, so it’s possible that I could be sent up north for future festivals and fun events as well.”
While only employed for slightly over one month, Alfaro says that “This is my dream ‘big-girl’ job! I really enjoy talking to people and creating connections with the locals.” She also explained that this job would open up other employment opportunities for her in the future, “A local sports journalist asked me to send him my resume the other day, which could lead me to another job in my field.”. However, Alfaro also recognizes that without the help of and connections she made through Stockton University’s Communication faculty, she would likely not have secured her dream job.
At Stockton, students majoring in the Communication Studies program can study in one of three tracks, including journalism and media studies, media production, and public relations. Alfaro stated that “The education and experiences I had at Stockton really set me up for my future success and getting a dream job like this!”
