Atlantic City, N.J. – Stockton University hosted races in Atlantic City for the second straight weekend, this time against Iona College (NY), with the Ospreys winning two of three events. Stockton topped Iona in both of the varsity eight races.
In the first race of the day, the Osprey varsity eight won with a time of 6:13.8 to the visitors’ 6:50.8. Stockton also entered a novice eight in the race, and that group posted a time of 7:00.6. Lorelei Hendricks (Burlington/Doane Academy) was the coxswain for the winning varsity eight.
Michaela Pope (Collingswood/Collingswood), Emily Culmone (Absecon/Ocean City), Gabrielle Eppright (Swainton/Cape May Tech), Izabelle DelRoss (Egg Harbor City/Cedar Creek), Chloe Schulze (Little Egg Harbor/Pinelands) Caitlyn Fogarty (Jackson/Jackson Memorial), Olivia Hurley (Bayville/Central Regional) and Kayla Bokor (Wayne/Roxbury) rowed to victory for the Ospreys.

Later in the day, the same Stockton varsity eight won again, this time crossing the finish at 5:54.7 followed by the Ospreys’ second varsity eight in second place at 6:21.3. Iona’s entry finished in 6:34.4. With the wins, the Stockton varsity eight captured the Bergman Cup.
The runner-up second varsity eight included Kara Yarrington (Woodstown/Woodstown), Jany Anderson (Petersburg/Ocean City), Jamie Dubicki (Hasbrouck Hts./Bergen County Tech), Carrie Alpin (North Hanover/Northern Burlington), Marcella Sacchetti (Staten Island, N.Y./Absegami (NJ), Nadia LoPane (Galloway/Absegami), Emily Latshaw (Toms River/TR South) and Kayla Barrett (Galloway/Absegami).
Emily Thompson (Manahawkin/Southern Regional) was the coxswain for the second varsity eight.
In between the two eight races, the Stockton varsity four finished second to Iona’s 7:00.2 with a time of 7:12.2. The Osprey novice eight posted 7:50.1 in the race. Thompson served as coxswain for the varsity four, with Dubicki, Dube, Alpin and Anderson doing the rowing.
Stockton will be home again next weekend, with the Ospreys hosting Catholic University on Sunday, April 11 at the Atlantic City Boathouse.
