Stockton University’s Student Senate held its third public meeting of the Spring 2025 semester on March 25 in Kessleman Hall on Stockton’s Atlantic City campus. The meeting ran from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. in B119-120 and covered recent activity on campus, as well as opened the floor to guest speakers.
Ospreys Navigate
Ana Edmondson, Director of Student Transition Programs, and Bethel Jackson, Coordinator of Student Wellness Programs and Operations, discussed the benefits of Ospreys Navigate and why they are encouraging students to take advantage of the app.
Ospreys Navigate, available on IOS, Android, and desktop, has “everything in one place.” From viewing class schedules and connecting with study buddies for your classes, to booking appointments with different offices on campus, students can use Ospreys Navigate to access many of Stockton’s resources.
Campus Culture Working Group
Dr. Kameika Murphy, Associate Professor of History, and Kelly Oquist, Director of Academic Finance, shared their current working group, People and Campus Culture, as a part of Stockton’s Strategic Planning. Based on faculty and student-driven surveys and feedback, the working group identified amenable themes across campus for improvements.
The group had one month to create 3-4 achievable goals for the key themes of professional development, supportive campus climate, personal relationships, and inclusivity. The group has been meeting weekly and working with guest speakers to develop their plans and opened the floor to students to hear their suggestions and feedback.
Club Budget Requests
The budget request form for student organizations is open until April 10, 2025. Clubs are encouraged to submit their forms as soon as possible to take advantage of more funding. Club representatives can also attend Student Senate public meetings to request additional funding for events and excursions.
Campus Food
After hearing feedback from students, dates are now available in the food court for Ramadan. Additionally, campus services will be meeting regarding Halal food options and proper preparation, and changes for the Meal Plan Exchange program.
Student Senate Elections
Student Senate Governmental Affairs has been preparing for the upcoming Student Senate elections, hosting several interest meetings for students who want to run in the election. The election will go live on Osprey Hub on April 15th and will be open for 48 hours, ending on April 17th.
“With our elections coming up, I would definitely take the time to learn about all the different candidates,” stated Student Senate President Andrea Sandoval. “While everyone always says ‘these students represent you,’ they really do represent you in various different ways. If you’re in Greek life and you know a candidate who’s in Greek life, that can be a representation. If you’re a first-generation student, if you’re from a different background, if you’re from a specific race, gender, or class, it’s a great way to vote for those who know where you’re coming from and to make sure you have your voice heard. If you’re unable to join senate, you can promote or educate others on what’s going on.”
The last Student Senate public meeting for the Spring 2025 semester will take place on April 22, 2025, in the Board of Trustees room from 4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. For more information on Student Senate and upcoming meetings, check out Osprey Hub.
