Stockton University celebrates 2025 Veterans Week On Campus

Hosted by the Military & Veterans Success Center (MVSC) at Stockton University, community members and students were invited to participate in a week-long lineup of programming to honor Veterans Day week from Saturday, November 8, 2025 to Friday, November 14, 2025.

To kick off the Veterans Week events, the Stockton Performing Arts Center hosted the Bay Atlantic Symphony’s Veterans Day Concerts on Saturday, November 8th. The free concert event featured patriotic and tribute songs, including “Stars and Stripes Forever” by Antonínin Dvořák, and “Symphony No. 9 From the New World Symphony.”

Continuing the annual Stockton tradition, the annual Veterans Day Recognition Ceremony was held on Monday, November 10, 2025, in the Campus Center Grand Hall and was viewable via Zoom for online attendants. This year’s event featured keynote speaker Jim Scallion, who served in the U.S. Army and currently serves as the chairman for the New Jersey American Legion Affordable Housing Committee for At-Risk/Homeless Veterans. The ceremony traditionally includes a rendition of the National Anthem and additional speeches from individuals from the MVSC and the Military Affiliated Students of Stockton (MASS).

From November 10-14, students could also spot the Faces of Stockton’s Military Community Photography Project in the Campus Center Coffeehouse. The gallery of photos highlights members of the Stockton Military community by showcasing who they are, their academic majors, and their positions on campus.

Wednesday, November 12, offered a variety of celebrations, including an exhibit of military gear for students to view and a live discussion panel in the Multicultural Center. The exhibit, which ran through Thursday in the F-wing Lower Gallery, featured a collection of military gear, including communication devices, helmets, vests, and survival tools. On Wednesday evening, Stockton students who served in the military shared their stories and experiences at the Life in Service: Stories, Challenges, and Triumphs Panel Discussion in the Multicultural Center. Students also had the opportunity on Thursday to taste-test Meals Ready to Eat (MREs) at the Independence Plaza.

The last day of Veterans Week was celebrated as a military tradition, the “ruck march,” where participants carry a weighted backpack to represent the mental challenges that soldiers face during their time of service. Students were able to engage in conversations with veterans during the ruck march around campus and learn about their experiences during their time of service. Later that afternoon, the MVSC and MASS hosted a screening of the 2025 film “Warfare” in the Camus Center Theatre. The film depicts a Navy SEAL Platoon on a mission in Iraq, giving viewers an inside look at what serving and sacrifice look like on the battlefield.
