On Tuesday, October 28, Stockton’s Student Senate met to discuss key university updates including the Strategic Planning Committee and the number of shuttles on campus.
Executive Director of Student Affairs Strategic Planning & Initiatives, Dr. Ashlee K. Roberts, elaborated on the Strategic Planning Committee’s previous initiatives and new goals moving forward: “[through] this strategic planning process we collected a lot of feedback from people, had a lot of listening sessions with the institution.”
“It was critical that we had, through this process, a shift in culture, particularly experience on campus,” said Roberts.
According to Stockton’s website, the plan “emphasizes the university will stay grounded in the liberal arts and will strengthen support for first-generation students and for students with financial need.” This new plan was approved by the Board of Trustees back in September.
Senate also discussed some upcoming events on campus, including the Student, Faculty, and Staff Dinner which will announce awards and nominations while celebrating connection and gratitude across campus. Here, students are encouraged to invite a faculty member who has had a meaningful impact on their Stockton experience. The dinner is on Thursday, November 20 from 5 to 7 pm. All students can claim two free tickets from the Campus Center.
Students are also encouraged to vote for Faculty and Staff of the Year and winners will be announced at the aforementioned dinner. Voting will close on November 6, 2025, and nominations are now live on OspreyHub.
Vice President, Hunter Pico, also announced that four new shuttles will be arriving next semester in an initiative to increase reliability of campus transportation.
During this meeting, October’s Senator of the Month was announced, which was Senator Zippi Abramson. She was chosen for being a consistent member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee, whose volunteering showed her reliability in completing meaningful work that contributes to the Senate as a whole.
Four newly elected Student Senators—Triumphant Oladejo, Areyes Trimmer, Dylan Demarest, Sandy Paredes Garcia, and Dwayne Rose-MdDaniel—were also officially sworn into office before the meeting’s conclusion.
Be sure to visit OspreyHub to vote in the Student Senate Elections before they close on November 13.
