Osprey Madness brings energy and enthusiasm for basketball to Stockton

The Stockton community packed The Sports Center on Tuesday, October 21, for Osprey Madness, the annual event that kicks off the basketball season and celebrates Osprey pride.

Students, staff, and alumni came together for a night full of contests, music, and giveaways. Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams were introduced with loud cheers before taking the court for an intrasquad scrimmage that gave fans an early look at this year’s rosters. A player skills challenge and fan games kept the energy high throughout the night, with plenty of Stockton gear, free food, and crowd interaction to keep everyone engaged. The dance team and cheer squad also added to the excitement, filling the gym with energy and school spirit from start to finish.

In a university press release, Executive Director of Athletics & Campus Recreation Anthony Berich said, “Osprey Madness is one of the best nights of the year to come together as a community, celebrate our student-athletes, and gear up for another exciting season of Stockton basketball.”

The men’s basketball team will return after a strong 19–9 season and its fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance, while the women’s team looks to build on last year’s 11–14 record, led by two returning NJAC All-Conference seniors.

The night was more than just a season preview—it was a celebration of what makes Stockton special: school spirit, teamwork, and a community that always shows up for its Ospreys. Both teams will open their seasons in early November, with the women hosting their home and season opener on November 8, while the men travel to Salisbury, Maryland, to tip off their campaign.
