Stockton students partner with Red Cross for blood drive

On April 15, 2025, the Military Affiliated Students of Stockton University partnered with the American Red Cross to host a blood drive. Students could donate their blood for a good cause at the “Salute to Spring,” hosted by the club members who volunteered their time to help organize and run the event.

When reflecting on their experience of donating blood, a donor stated that it was “[really] easy and pretty painless! [I] felt good about it afterward.” All donated blood is given to hospitals and transfusion centers, where it is used to support patients. Organizers emphasized the importance of the charity, as every blood donation can be another life saved. With the high demand of blood in medical centers, the volunteers and the American Red Cross encouraged participation to help make an impact.

Aside from the medical impact, the event brought the community together for a good cause, as snacks and refreshments provided by Chartwells were offered to those who attended. To ensure a safe environment after donating blood, donors were given refreshments and snacks that helped ensure recovery. “There’s always a blood shortage. I work in a surgical ICU, I know how many transfusions are needed on a daily basis, so people should do it if they can,” the donor furthered when explaining the importance of donating blood.

The volunteers from military-affiliated Stockton students helped check in donors, answer questions, and helped the event run smoothly as they worked hand-in-hand with the American Red Cross. The volunteer’s presence not only helped the organization but guaranteed the event’s success by providing a supportive environment.
