“Yoga Night” was hosted by Stockton University’s Health Science Club, taking place at the Townsend Residential Life Center on April 15, 2025. The total yoga session lasted from 4:30 pm to 6 p.m. and there were about 15-20 attendees. If anyone wanted to take a break during the event or before leaving, there were granola bars and waters available as refreshments.
Mae, who led the yoga session, provided a night full of useful information and a way to de-stress with the end of the semester looming right around the corner. To help prepare for the yoga, roughly 15-20 minutes of meditation were completed prior to starting. The purpose of the meditation was to help prepare everyone’s minds to be in that space and to let go of all the stressors that were taking place in the minds’ of the attendees.
One of the attendees who was an education major stated, “The poses that we did were good for providing a stretch as some of the poses I used to do in extracurricular activities like dance. I think that the poses should have been described a little bit more in depth for beginners.”
Pertinent information provided during the session consisted of the different poses and the targeted areas of the body that each of the poses helped. Examples of poses completed were: downward facing dog, cobra, child’s pose, half moon phase, and airplanes. During the airplane pose, Instructor Mae told everyone to lift their chest up to ensure proper alignment.
