Stockton University (7-6, 0-2 CLC) couldn’t overcome a fast start by Number 2 Salisbury and fell 21-7 on Wednesday afternoon. Gage Parker led the Ospreys with three goals and an assist, while Robbie O’Brien added two goals in the Coastal Lacrosse Conference (CLC) matchup.
Salisbury jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the opening quarter, with O’Brien scoring Stockton’s lone goal off an assist from Riley Burns. The Ospreys cut the deficit to 5-3 early in the second period with back-to-back goals by Parker and O’Brien, but the Sea Gulls answered with a dominant run of eight straight goals to take control.
Stockton trailed 14-4 at halftime and couldn’t recover despite solid play in goal from Ben Blum, who tied his career-high with 19 saves in over 51 minutes of action. Will Kasica closed out the game in the net and made one save.
Tommy Vandegrift and Ben Malicki also found the net for Stockton. Salisbury was led by Ryan Della and Chris Wong with four goals apiece, while Charles Fritchman dominated the faceoff circle, winning 20 of 23 and collecting 16 ground balls.
