The Blind Boys of Alabama performed at the Stockton University Performing Arts Center (PAC) on Saturday, February 1, 2025. The performance was part of their ongoing U.S. tour and highlighted their latest album, “Echoes of the South.”
“Echoes of the South” was released on August 25, 2023, and took home the Grammy for Best Roots Gospel Album in 2024. The album aims to honor those they have lost and the struggles they have overcome as they uphold their mission of spreading love.
The group has been in the music industry for over 70 years and they are best known for their gospel music that combines traditional and contemporary worlds of music. They have received Lifetime Achievement Awards from The Recording Academy and are Gospel Music Hall of Fame inductees. Their featured performance at the PAC marks their first visit to Stockton University.

On this night, the six-time Grammy award winners performed a variety of songs during the mass praising session, including their own, “Heaven Help Us All,” “Friendship,” and “God Knows Everything,” as well as covers of songs like “Amazing Grace” and “Wade in the Water.” After the show, the group signed copies of CDs and records of their latest album, and their book, “Spirit of the South: The Official Story of The Blind Boys of Alabama.” Fans also had the opportunity to get their photo taken with the group.
“There was not a person in that entire audience that was not moved by the joy, and the passion, and sincerity, and what we call anointing, of this group,” stated Stockton University Music Professor, Dr. Beverly Vaughn. “We all wanted more because of The Blind Boys of Alabama. This was a home run for the PAC. This was a hit for Stockton, and it is going to change the atmosphere of our school because of what happened here today in [the] PAC.”
