Yolanda Pacheco, a senior within the Psychology program at Stockton tragically died on the morning of Thursday, March 28 in a car accident.
“It is with sadness that I share the news that Yolanda Pacheco, a student in the Psychology program, has passed away. On behalf of the Stockton University administration, I offer my deepest condolences to Yolanda’s friends and family, which includes her sister Yesenia Pacheco, Coordinator of Student Transitions Access & Retention.” Christopher Catching, Vice President of Student Affairs said in a campus-wide email.
It has been reported by NBC Philadelphia that the crash happened on the Black Horse Pike in Collings Lakes, New Jersey, in an area between 8th S. and S. Pinewood Dr. just after 12:30 a.m. Thursday. According to Patricia Helmick, Pacheco’s mother, the driver of the vehicle that hit her was drunk.
In response to this tragic news, the Offices of the Dean of Students and Counseling & Psychological Services have activated resources to provide support for individuals within the university community who are grappling with the ramifications of this event. Qualified counselors are readily available to extend assistance to any student in need of grief counseling or general support, accessible through telehealth or in-person appointments. To use these services, students may contact the Counseling Center via telephone at (609) 652-4722 or visit in person during designated walk-in hours, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., located in J-204.
