Stockton University Men’s Lacrosse dominates Scranton in convincing win

In a thrilling display of skill and determination, the Stockton University Men’s Lacrosse team secured an impressive 15-victory over the University of Scranton. The Ospreys soared to victory, showcasing a balanced offensive performance that left their opponents trailing behind.

From the onset, Stockton asserted their dominance, scoring the first five goals of the game. This early lead set the tone for the match, with ten different players contributing to the scoreboard throughout the game. Spearheading the offensive charge was Reegan Capozzoli, whose stellar performance included four goals, propelling him into the esteemed ranks as the 15th player in Stockton history to achieve the impressive milestone of 100 career goals. Capozzoli’s achievement is not only a testament to his individual talent but also reflects the depth and strength of the Stockton lacrosse program.

Supporting Capozzoli’s standout performance were Colin Hopkins, Connor Albrecht, and freshman Alex DeLierre, each making significant contributions to the team’s offensive prowess. Hopkins showcased his versatility with two goals and an assist, while Albrecht’s two goals and an assist highlighted his impact on the field. DeLierre, demonstrating maturity beyond his years, added a goal and two assists to the team’s tally, solidifying his role as a promising talent for Stockton’s future campaigns.

The backbone of Stockton’s victory lay in the exceptional performance of Tyler Horvath. Horvath’s dominance in the face off circle, winning an impressive 20 of 23 face offs , provided Stockton with crucial possession opportunities, while his remarkable 15 ground balls showcased his tenacity and determination.

The defensive unit also played a pivotal role in securing the win, with grad student Liam DiFonzo and sophomore Tommy Vandegrift each netting their first career goals during the game. These contributions underscore the team’s depth and resilience, as players from all positions stepped up to make their mark on the game.

In goal, Colin Bernstein exhibited composure and skill, recording seven saves to anchor Stockton’s defense and secure the win. Despite facing a formidable opponent in Scranton, Bernstein’s performance ensured that Stockton maintained control of the game from start to finish.

While Scranton put up a valiant effort, with players like Kyle Holmes and Matthew McAree notching three goals apiece for the Royals, Stockton’s relentless pursuit of victory proved insurmountable.
