During the NYU DIII Invitational, Stockton University’s track and field athletes showcased their talent and determination marking their second visit of the season to the prestigious New York Armory. The meet featured athletes from over 25 NCAA Division III teams hailing from the New England, Northeast, and Mid-Atlantic Regions, creating a highly competitive environment for Stockton’s athletes to excel.
Gavin Lum, a standout performer for the team, demonstrated his versatility and skill in two events. Lum secured an impressive fourth-place qualification out of 28 in the 60m hurdles, clocking in at 8.60 seconds. In the pole vault, Lum claimed a sixth-place finish out of 18 participants, clearing a height of 4.26m. Notably, Lum tied with teammate Joseph Morales, who secured fifth place through a tiebreaker.
Trevone Green showcased his prowess in both the triple jump and long jump events. Green leaped to a third-place finish out of 27 competitors in the triple jump, covering a distance of 13.93m. In the long jump, he secured sixth place with a commendable 6.45m. Payton Stills also demonstrated skill in the long jump, claiming seventh place with a jump of 6.41m.
The 4×400 relay team, composed of Santana Wittenburg, Joseph deBeaumont, Ryan Fisher, and Marcellus Malloy, impressed with a second-place finish out of 24 teams, clocking in at 3:28.98. Individually, deBeaumont showcased his speed and endurance by finishing 11th out of 79 runners in the 800m, crossing the line in 1:59.36.
Field events saw strong performances as well with Mike Carfagno securing a fourth-place finish out of 32 in the shot put, recording a distance of 14.37m. In the 400m, Anthony Gentile claimed the 10th spot out of 66 runners with a time of 52.42 seconds. Carson Latham showcased his speed in the 200m, finishing 12th out of 90 participants with a time of 22.95 seconds.
Looking ahead, Stockton’s track and field teams are set to compete in the Big Apple Invitational at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island on February 10 at 3:00 p.m. As the athletes continue to elevate their performances, the Stockton University community eagerly anticipates more successes and remarkable achievements in the upcoming competitions.
