Office of Global Engagement holds Education Abroad 101 Info Session

The interconnected nature of the world makes international education more attractive to students who are interested in exploring opportunities outside of their horizon. This has led universities like Stockton to facilitate study abroad programs to enhance students’ academic pursuits and foster cultural understanding. Among the many resources Stockton offers to students interested in studying abroad, the Education Abroad 101 Info Session, organized by the Office of Global Engagement, stands out as a gateway to the processes involved in studying abroad.

On Tuesday, January 23, 2024, the info session was held in the Campus Center Meeting Room 4 at 4:30 pm. It involved an explanation of the entire program to demystify the study abroad experience and provide students with the right information to navigate through the entire process successfully. Students were advised to speak with the Office of Global Engagement first to apprise them of their desire to study abroad as that is the office in charge of the entire program.

Students were introduced to the different programs available and were instructed to choose an Education Abroad Program. The types of exchange programs at Stockton’s partner institutions include provider programs which involve studying abroad via third-party education abroad providers, faculty-led programs that involve an academic course that will combine classroom learning with short-term learning abroad, petition programs and virtual programs. Either of these options are available to students and have specific processes to get into them.

Students will have to discuss these plans with their preceptor or academic advisor to decide some of the Stockton courses that can be taken abroad and would count towards the student’s requirements for graduation. The process comes to an end with the submission of the application which will be reviewed by the Office of Global Engagement.

A student who attended the session told The Argo; “The info session answered some of the questions that I have been having about studying abroad. A friend of mine studied abroad and she keeps sharing the amazing experiences she had with me ,So ever since then, I have been interested in studying abroad.”
