The week of January 8-14 saw Osprey athletes deliver thrilling performances across various sports. Let’s dive into the standout moments and notable achievements of our Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams, as well as the impressive displays by the Men’s and Women’s Indoor Track & Field squads.

Men’s Basketball Soars to the Top

The Men’s Basketball team, boasting a record of 11-5 (7-2 NJAC), continued their winning streak with victories against Kean and New Jersey City. DJ Campbell from Vineland played a pivotal role, averaging 20.5 points per game, tying for the team lead. Campbell also showcased his prowess in rebounds (7.5 RPG) and steals (3.0 SPG). EJ Matthews-Spratley, from Cherry Hill, matched Campbell’s scoring average, shooting a remarkable 52% from the field and 91.7% from the foul line. Martin Anguelov and Tayvon Gaither contributed significantly, solidifying the team’s position at the top of the NJAC.

Women’s Basketball Maintains Dominance

The Women’s Basketball team, standing at 10-6 (7-2 NJAC), displayed resilience in their recent games. Madison Dulude led the team in both scoring (10.5 PPG) and rebounds (6.0 RPG). Grace Speer had a breakout week, averaging 10.0 points per game, including a career-high 18 points against NJCU. Emma Morrone displayed her all-around skills, leading in assists (9) and steals (11), while scoring 9.7 points per game. The team’s upcoming matchup against Ramapo College (January 20, 3 p.m.) promises intense action.

Track & Field Triumphs

In Men’s Indoor Track & Field, Erik Ackerman claimed victory in the mile at the TCNJ Indoor Invitational, securing his fourth career individual event win. The team’s upcoming challenge is the Moravian Invitational on January 20 (10 a.m.).

For Women’s Indoor Track & Field, Khristina Washington stood out, finishing fifth in the triple jump and 10th in the long jump at the TCNJ Invitational. Washington earned the NJAC Field Athlete of the Week honor for the first time. The team looks forward to the Moravian Invitational on January 20 (10 a.m.).
