The Argo says farewell to graduating seniors, welcomes incoming leadership

Dear members and friends of The Argo community,

After nearly four months of hard work, thrilling academic pursuits, and making unforgettable college memories, the Fall 2023 semester is coming to a close—and with it, we find ourselves parting ways with our graduating friends and colleagues. With the conclusion of this semester, The Argo will be officially parting ways with three graduating seniors—Editor-in-Chief Liz Myers, Sports Co-Columnist Sarah Cipkins, and Investigative Staff Writer Tori Corless—along with Staff Writer Jared Keane, who will be spending his final semester at Stockton taking part in the Spring 2024 Washington Internship Program. Copyeditor Matt Cavallo will be taking on the helm as Editor-in-Chief, alongside his newly named Assistant Editor, Sports Columnist Brianna Barretta.

I would like to take a moment to congratulate our departing student journalists on taking the next step in their professional and academic journies, and to thank you for all of your unwavering dedication to The Argo, commitment to journalistic integrity, and your incredible work over these past few years. Tori, Jared, Sarah—things just won’t be the same without you aboard. I think that I speak for everyone at The Argo when I say that you will be deeply missed. Best of luck to you all in your future endeavors! I expect nothing less than bright and wonderful things from each of you in the years to come.

Argo, it’s been a wild ride. From the day I began copyediting as a freshman to the moment I sat down to write this final piece, we’ve been through so much together. But despite all of the ups and downs we’ve faced, I wouldn’t trade our time together for anything. All of those countless late nights and early mornings were, without a doubt, worth every second of having the honor of being your Editor. To serve Stockton’s student body as a budding journalist has been among the greatest pleasures of these past three years, and it brings me great joy to welcome our phenomenal new leadership team. Give ’em hell (and substantial journalistic content), folks.

In the years to come, I hope that you all continue to get involved with your communities and fight to have your voices heard. Stockton, never stop writing, reading, speaking, creating, and thinking critically—be the change that you want to see in your world, and in your University. Your authentic voice is the one thing that cannot be taken from you, or commodified against your best interests. Use it.

It’s been an honor and a pleasure. Cheers to you, Argo! I wish you all a lovely rest of your semester, and an utterly spectacular life.

Yours,

Liz Myers, Editor-in-Chief
