The Stockton University field hockey team is celebrating a remarkable season, and the recent National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Region IV Honors are a testament to the outstanding contributions of four standout players.
Junior Allie Palumbo, a clear force on the field from Mantua, and sophomore Carlee Thompson of Gibbsboro, earned well-deserved spots on the NFHCA Region IV First Team. Meanwhile, the dynamic duo of sophomore Kirsten Bailey from Burlington and freshman Kaelin Drey hailing from Boyertown, PA, secured positions on the NFHCA Region IV Second Team.
Palumbo’s historic achievements are not to be understated, she became the first player in the program’s 21-year history to earn all-region honors three times. A forward with an impressive track record, Palumbo was not only an NJAC First Team selection but also a two-time NJAC Player of the Week this season. Her 15 goals, including four game-winners, and 11 assists played a pivotal role in helping Stockton achieve a school-record-tying 15 victories this season.
Joining Palumbo in the spotlight is Thompson, who made an immediate impact after joining Stockton as a transfer. A key midfielder, Thompson’s contributions include scoring five goals, providing 10 crucial assists, and earning an NJAC Offensive Player of the Week accolade.
The formidable offensive combo of Bailey and Palumbo proved pivotal for Stockton, with Bailey’s 14 goals and four game-winners making her a force to be reckoned with on the field. On the defensive end, freshman Drey showcased her prowess by starting all 20 games, making one crucial defensive save, and contributing to Stockton’s impressive five shutouts.
In essence, Stockton’s field hockey team has not only etched its name in the record books but has also solidified its position as a force in NFHCA Region IV, thanks to the remarkable performances of these talented athletes.
