Women’s basketball secures season opener victory

No better way to start the season than a win at home for the Women’s Basketball team. The Ospreys (1-0) played against Penn St. Harrisburg (0-1) in both the teams’ home openers at 6:00 p.m. on November 8, which led to the Ospreys winning 62-46.

During the first period of play, the game started out slow. Both teams going back and forth on the court trying to score baskets to break the close scoreline. Once the first period ended, the Lions were up 10-6 against the Ospreys. The Ospreys started to find their rhythm and got into a repetitive scoring flow to give the Lions a setback in their game. The Ospreys ended up outscoring the Lions 23-16. Imeni Fathi (#11) was the top scorer with six points and Brianna Robinson (#5) added five markers to end the second period.

Once the third quarter began, Stockton kept their composure and took advantage of the foul play continuing and was able to get a higher lead over the Lions 42-34. Fathi secured many three-pointers toward the end of the game. Along with Emma Morrone (#2) and Madison Dulude (#10) also made a huge impact by hitting a bunch of three-pointers that pushed the victory to 62-46. Along with three steals, Fowlkes added a game- and career-high nine rebounds, six of which came from the offensive glass. Morrone, Robinson, and Fathi each contributed a high ten points. From the Lions’ team, Jayla Galbreath was the only player in double figures, leading all players with 20 points.
