On Wednesday, November 10, 2023, the Office of Career Education and Development opened the Career Success Studio in an extension of their office’s suite, CC-Suite 104. The event had a number of students stop by to check out the new facility and also engage the staff of the career center with questions about the studio and how it will impact their career growth and development.
Sofia Abreu, Director of Office of Career Education and Development described the studio as a space where students can come in and utilize its resources to work on different stages of their career development. She further explained that the studio will assist students in areas like resume creation, cover letter writing, and job searching, among other things.
Abreu stated that students should expect new initiatives from the career center like the ‘Professional Headshot Mondays’ where students can walk in and get professional headshots and ‘Working Wednesdays’ where employers will be visiting to share opportunities with students, review resumes and cover letters and so on.

She added that the career center is looking at working with professors who may wish to host classes outside of the regular classroom as well as, student success groups like TogetHer and Sankofa to reach as many students as possible while tracking to see how many students benefit from the studio often and how to extend the studio’ reach.
A student attending the event told The Argo, “Besides the nice cake and food that I had here, I am excited that my professional growth and development has become a priority through this studio. It gives me the feeling that someone is rooting for me to succeed in my career and is willing to offer me every support that I need to succeed professionally.”
You can visit the Career Success Studio on Mondays to Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
