Zuleika RodriguezStockton University (8-3-7, 2-3-4 NJAC) ended the regular season on a down note as the Ospreys fell to Rowan University (13-0-2, 8-0-1 NJAC) 3-0 on Wednesday, October 25 at 5:00 p.m who are ranked #11 nationally by the United Soccer Coaches.
Off the bat, both sides were fired up to play a fierce rivalry match. Pressure was applied on both sides. Rowan had the first chance on goal, but the ball skied over the net. Stockton’s first shot was off a foul but went straight to Rowan’s goalie.
The Profs scored the only tally they would need at the fifteen-minute mark of the first half. The goal was scored off a corner kick by Mackenzie Clement (#14) to give Rowan a 1-0 leg up on the Ospreys.
Morgan Keil (#0) made many high ball and comfortable saves along with Rowan adding up several corner kicks in the first half.
With three minutes left in the first half, Keil made a huge save with her shins that kept a flying ball down the middle of the 18-yard box out of the back net and saved the Ospreys from a further downfall before the end of the first half.
With seven minutes into the second half, Lauren SanFelice (#4) scored to give a 2-0 lead over Stockton. SanFelice drove the ball in the middle of the 18-yard box and cut around a Stockton defender, shooting the ball with power low into the bottom left corner.
Stockton had a corner four minutes later after the second goal by the Profs off a header but was aimed right at the goalie.
Another corner for Rowan in the fifty-ninth minute which was scored by SanFelice who was open in the middle of the six-yard box. Sarah Bergan (#6) swiftly went around a Stockton defender and crossed the ball in the box for SanFelice to capture her second goal of the evening.
Rowan beat Stockton 3-0 to end their regular season matchups.
