Stockton women’s field hockey (13-3, 3-1 NJAC) took down The College of New Jersey (9-4, 3-1 NJAC) for the first time since 2003, the first year of the Stockton program.

The game was played at home on October 17th at 7:00 p.m. High expectations and an extensive history between the two teams contributed to the fierce rivalry, but Stockton emerged victorious.
After the first quarter, the score was level at 0-0. In the offensive phase, both teams had a few good chances, but took no shots that were close to the net. The Stockton team played incredibly well, and the players’ enthusiasm and intensity were apparent. The chances of Stockton scoring rose continually.
In the second quarter, Kristen Bailey (#10) scored the first goal for the Ospreys off an assist from Allie Palumbo (#2). Kristen received the long centering pass from Plaumbo and held off the Lions defender long enough to backhand the ball into the left corner of the goal. TCNJ had a couple chances from corners, but the ball went wide every time.
In the third quarter, right off the bat, TCNJ’s Rayhanah Ahmed scored. After a few minutes of play, Stockton retaliated, and Carlee Thompson (#5) scored off the rebound ball to return Stockton the lead. Thompson then scored another off a rebound ball.

As the fourth quarter began, Mackenzie Hart of TCNJ added another goal within the first minute. However, close to two minutes later, Bailey brought back the two-lead score with her second goal of the game from a penalty corner, ensuring the win over TCNJ 4-2.
