Stockton volleyball stays on top with win against Montclair

In a dominant display, the Stockton University volleyball team continued their winning streak in conference play with a sweep of Montclair State University. The Ospreys, with a record of 10-7 overall and an undefeated 3-0 in NJAC, secured their victory with scores of 25-18, 26-24, and 25-22.

The match showcased standout performances from Nicole Palmer (#7) who led the charge with an impressive 12 kills, setting the tone for Stockton’s early lead in the opening set. Rileigh Wilson (#15) added 10 kills to the tally, while Ashley Carkhuff (#22) contributed nine kills with an impressive .471 hitting percentage. Regan Mendick (#23) and Aubrey Rentzel (#4)orchestrated the offense with precision, tallying a combined 35 assists. McKenna Ritchie (#8), displayed exceptional defensive skills, scooping a match-high 16 digs and chipping in with six assists.

The turning points in each set were crucial to the Ospreys’ success. In the second set, Stockton overcame a deficit and clinched a hard-fought victory with a 5-2 spurt, ultimately winning 26-24. The third set featured a six-point outburst, highlighted by Rentzel’s aces and Wilson’s kills, solidifying Stockton’s control and sealing the sweep with a final score of 25-22. Montclair State University put up a valiant effort, with Skye Ramsey leading their attack with 11 kills, Emily Carcich distributing 22 assists, and Emma Hatcher recording eight digs.
