This past Thursday, Stockton University hosted its annual Osprey Ball at Renault Winery to start off University Weekend. Annually, Stockton hosts a myriad of events related to University Weekend, ranging from Hypnotists to Classical performances, an educational workshop on fishing, and even a parade. The formal event was no exception to the high expectations.

Upon arrival, students were greeted with a large lush courtyard, and beautiful lights illuminating the stunning architecture of the building. With full catering accompanied by a cash bar, full dance floor, and music, some attendees gave glowing comments on practically every aspect that Renault Winery had to offer.

A couple hours into the night, after some dancing and dessert, an Argo reporter caught up with a few TALONS, which included hired student representatives Jessica Velasques and Ashley Rivera. When asked about what made Stockton so unique to them and why it was the school they chose over others, Velasquez replied: “It’s about the community.”

“There is a space for everyone here and that’s what makes it truly stand out from other schools. It’s the lack of judgment and the presence of inclusivity that has made its mark on me as a student and as a TALON,” she elaborated.

One thing that some students were surprised to see at this event, was the cash bar. When asked about the choice to include alcohol at a University event, Rivera responded, “It’s events like these that help young adults navigate the real world and develop a sense of responsibility. The wristbands they gave us tell us who is allowed to drink and since the restaurant is filled with such keen-eyed staff, it would be impossible to get served as a minor,” she spoke pointedly.

After a night of fun and mingling, many students found themselves more than satisfied with their experience. For some, Stockton University yet again gave them another reason to be happy when they call themselves “Ospreys.”
