On Wednesday, September 27, at 5:00 p.m., Stockton University (6-0-4, 1-0-1 NJAC) and Montclair State University (6-1-1, 1-0-1 NJAC) played to a 0-0 tie. As a result of the draw, Stockton’s season-opening unbeaten run has now reached 10 games. The most recent United Soccer Coaches poll has the Red Hawks at #10.
In the opening five minutes of play, each team attempted a shot on goal, contending for the defensive line and finding their rhythms. In the ninth minute of the game, Stockton’s primary goalie, Morgan Keil (#0) made a strong save as the ball came at a low angle to keep the score level. Within a few seconds, Keil made another save off the first Montclair corner catching the ball in high away from any player trying to head the ball.
Near the left goal corner, Keil made yet another outstanding stop. The ball was headed for her top left corner, but she was able to catch it as it came soaring above. For most of the first half, Montclair was keeping most of the possessions. They were able to dish out 10 shots and 7 were on net. When freshman Kylee Reissek (#33) found space on the right side in the 84th minute, Stockton had its finest opportunity, but Reissek’s shot sailed wide to the far-left corner.

Montclair had five corners, 18 total, seven of them were on goal as compared to Stockton’s zero corners, four shots, and two only on goal. Keil’s winning streak for the season now stands at seven as a result of the Ospreys’ ability to maintain their hold on and keep the score tied until the final whistle.
